Based on the ISTD brief 'It happened on this day', I chose to look at the building of Titanic ending on the day she left Belfast.

To capture all the pieces of the story I decided it would be best to produce three separate booklets that told their own individual part of it. To distinguish between the three booklets I gave them their own look and feel relating to their part of the story.

Book 1 looks at the numbers of the ship, showing us why it was so special. To reflect the scale of the ship I made the numbers, and the book itself, big. The yellow stock and the metal binding clips hint at the Harland and Wolff shipyard where she was built.

Book 2 tells the story from the ship's conception to the day she left Belfast. This is printed on a matt paper and is perfect bound.

Book 3 is a collection of photographs showing the ship at various stages during its building and testing. This is printed on a silk stock and thread bound to hint at the ship's elegance. Again, the yellow thread hints at the Harland and Wolff shipyard.
